Have you ever heard about children anxiety on the news? Well, lots of children have anxiety during this pandemic and
need help. This article will talk about the steps that you can try at home that will hopefully calm you down a little.
The first step is getting used deep breathing. According to Healthline, they say "When you are anxious or angry, you tend to take quick, shallow breaths. Scott Dehorty says this sends a message to your brain, causing a positive feedback loop reinforcing your fight-or-flight response. That is why taking long, deep calming breaths disrupts that loop and helps you calm down." That is the difference between deep breathing and breathing when you have anxiety and how it affects your brain.
The second step is looking at the bright side of things. According to Bustle, you can do this by "Thinking about your day and identifying one positive thing that happened, no matter how small." Thinking positive allows your brain to forget about some of the negativity you had for a while. According to PsychCentral you can focus on the “good news” to help you look at the bright side of things, they say “There is good news if you choose to find it. Yes, your car broke down, but the good news is…you had a cell phone to call for a tow. Yes, you have the flu, but the good news is… you now have a perfect excuse to watch a marathon of your favorite TV series while you rest up and get better. Go ahead, make your list: Sometimes you may have to dig a little to find the good news, but the good news is…anything positive is better than nothing at all!”
The last step is relaxing yourself by releasing your anxiety. According to Healthline, they say "Scott Dehorty recommends
getting the emotional energy out with exercise. Go for a walk or run. Engaging in some physical activity releases serotonin to help you calm down and feel better.”
Children in anxiety need something to cheer them up and help them calm down. Hopefully, this article was able calm you down for a little and not focus on all the negativity in the world. Remember to, get used to deep breathing, look at the bright side of things by thinking to yourself “the good news is…” and finish the sentence with whatever you can think of, and relax yourself by releasing your anxiety.
